IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OZONE:Ozone is classed as an upper respiratory irritant and is harmful to humans and animals. Symptoms of excessive exposure to ozone can be burning, watery or irritated eyes, nose or throat, nausea, headache, difficulty in breathing, dry cough, irritation to nasal passages, throat, bronchial and pulmonary membranes. If symptoms are present move subject immediately to a fresh-air environment and seek medical attention if asthma-like symptoms are observed. • DO NOT enter the treated vehicle or room until the designated clearance time has been observed. Make sure the vehicle or room is completely ventilated after treatment and before personnel can enter. • Prolonged exposure can also affect certain organic materials such as rubber, plastic wire insulation, etc. Ozone can, over time and depending on the level of exposure, damage organic products. Rubber is an organic product. Therefore, rubber and compounds of rubber can be damaged by ozone depending on the level of exposure (level of ozone and length of exposure time). It is unfortunately not possible to give a specific “safe length of time” of exposure for any organic product or compound as there are too many variables. For example pure rubber would be affected far more quickly than a compound with low levels of rubber in it. If using an ozone generator on a regular basis in the same enclosed area, for example daily, then we would suggest this only be done for short periods (10 minutes) and ensure that any organic materials are either removed or covered to reduce their exposure to ozone. It is important to ensure that after use of ozone the area be well ventilated to prevent prolonging the exposure. It is worth noting that naturally occurring ozone is one of the reasons vehicle tyres degrade over time when left out exposed to the environment.
