Tyre Connectors

What is an open-end connector? An open-end connector has a pin which unseats the tyre’s valve when in use, this means that air will pass through the connector regardless if it is on a tyre valve or not. You should only use an open-end where you have control of your air output, for example with a handheld inflator or wall mounted pre-set version. PCL’s hold-on and clip-onconnectors can be distinguished as an open-end by the black rubber handle. What is a closed-end connector? A closed end connector features a red rubber handle and is employed when air is supplied directly from a main air line, for example a compressor or air receiver. A non-return valve unseated on connection to the tyre’s valve, allowing air to flow into the tyre. You should not use a closed-end version on a single hose, the only time you should use a closed end connection in conjunction with a tyre inflator is when using multiple hoses to inflate multiple tyres at once.
